Richard E. “Dick” Fuller

Richard E. “Dick” Fuller, age 80, of 311 Lind, Quincy, died on Thursday, May 10, 2012 in Blessing Hospital. He was born November 30, 1931 in Quincy, a son of Chris L. & Faye V. (Howser) Fuller, Sr.

Richard served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Alaska. He retired in 1989 after 29 years of service as a Quincy Firefighter. He was a member of the Vermont Street Methodist Church.

Richard was a member of Sheridan Swim Club and until recently he swam five days a week. He loved gardening, especially raising tomatoes. Richard loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, camping, walking and horseback riding. He also had a love of reading, studying the American Indians and mountain men.

He is survived by three children, James Fuller of Canton, MO, Linda Brown and husband Doug of Kahoka, MO and Vikki Kacmanynski and husband Steve of Quincy; four grandchildren, Benjamin R. (Katie) Brown of Quincy, Adam (Dee) Brown of Brooklyn, IA, Tim Fuller of Canton, MO and Zac (Ginna) Fuller of Keokuk, IA; great-grandchildren, Trei Fuller of Canton, MO and Brennan Fuller of Keokuk, IA; and a sister-in-law, Sally Jo Fuller of Sandy, UT. Several nieces & nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Chris L. Fuller, Jr.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 14, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home, by the Rev. Scott Grulke. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #37 and the Illinois National Guard Military Burial Detail . Visitation will be held Monday beginning at 12:30 p.m. until the time of services at 1:00 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
