Richard ‘Dick’ Tushaus

Richard P. “Dick” Tushaus, age 80, of 508 Springlake Drive, died on Saturday, November 7, 2015 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on June 2, 1935 in Quincy the son of Paul & Gladys (Thyson) Tushaus. Dick married Paula Bettisworth on May 14, 1954 in Chicago. She preceded him in death on August 20, 2005.

Dick was the former co-owner of Midwest Patterns. He served in the United States Navy. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. Dick was also a member of Spring Lake Country Club, the Knights of Columbus and the Elks. He enjoyed Golf and was proud of the 4 hole in ones that he achieved in his career. He also had fun Fishing, Woodworking, Boating and Playing cards especially playing ‘gin’.

Dick is survived by:
A DAUGHTER: Debbie Schulte and her husband Francis of Quincy
A SON: Jeff Tushaus and his wife Tarie of Quincy
SIX GRANDCHILDREN: Julie Schulte; Jayne Pieper and her husband Jamie; Casey Tushaus and his wife Ann, Keri Mast and her husband Bob; Sarah Bowles and her husband Adam, and Drew Tushaus.
SIX-GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Logan and Tristan Pieper; Mae and Claire Tushaus; Avri Mast and Duke Bowles.
A BROTHER: Tom Tushaus and his wife Janet Kay
A SISTER: Mary Lou Rakers and her husband Tom.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to his wife, Dick was also preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 9:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery with military rites conducted at the cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Memorials may be made to Quincy Notre Dame.

    Our deepest sympathy to you, Debbie and Jeff. Hopefully the fondest memories you have of your dad will make you smile and relieve your sadness as you mourn his loss in the coming weeks. We apologize for not making visitation tonight but we will see you tomorrow.
