Richard “Dick” Eugene Waterkotte

Richard “Dick” Eugene Waterkotte, age 71, of 6708 Hickory Grove North, died on Thursday, December 9, 2010, in his home. He was born on December 15, 1938 in Quincy, IL the son of Virgil & Dorothy (Ellis) Waterkotte. He married Anna Lee Casburn on July 11, 1959 in St. Peter Catholic Church. She survives. Richard worked as a Rehabilitation Counselor for the State of Illinois, Department of Rehabilitation for 31 and a half years, retiring in 1997. Richard was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, and Culver Stockton College, Canton, MO and did some graduate work at Southern Illinois University.

Richard was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. He was a member of the Elks. He was a former member of the Quincy Boat Club and Quincy Saddle Club. Richard enjoyed camping, travel and was involved with his horses for over 53 years. Richard was an avid duck, quail and deer hunter. He and Anna Lee wintered in South Texas for 10 years. His greatest enjoyment was family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by:
FOUR CHILDREN: Lori Crissup of Plano, TX, Lynn Mann of Quincy, IL; Kenneth Waterkotte of Quincy and Karen Ludwig and her husband Jim also of Quincy.
SEVEN GRANDCHILDREN: Heather and Courtney Crissup, Devin and Kelsey Mann, Danielle Waterkotte, & Adam and Nathan Ludwig.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Waterkotte and Dorothy Ellis Waterkotte Straley.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 11:30 a.m. in the Church of St. Peter. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Church of St. Peter or to the Diabetes Association.

    Very sorry to hear about Dick. We have some good memories about him and his family. He has a family to be proud of. Sorry we cannot be there as we are at our sons here in Fl.

    Anna Lee, I was so sorry to hear about Dick. I sure enjoyed the times we were all together planning our class reunions. He will be missed by many. God be with all of you.

    Just read the paper today. So very sorry to hear about Dick. Always enjoyed those chats at the CYO during the girls’ games. Prayers and thoughts to the Waterkotte family.
