Raymond L. Amen
Raymond L. Amen age 82, of the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Quincy died on Saturday, March 12, 2016 in the home. Raymond was born April 28, 1933 in Quincy, a son of Martin B. and Mary E. (Gruber) Amen. On October 5, 1957 he married Elizabeth “Joyce” (Davis) Stephens in Paris, MO. She died March 8, 1994.
Raymond had been employed for 24 years at Motorola Radio, where he and Joyce met. He later worked for nine years with the Quincy Public Schools. He retired on his 62nd birthday in1995.
Raymond was a 1951 graduate of Quincy Senior High School. He received his draft notice as a teenager, and served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean War. He was a lifelong member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church.
Raymond greatly enjoyed bicycling and had logged over 68,000 miles on his bicycles. He also liked boating and working in his garage workshop.
Survivors include his two daughters, Rose Amen Pillars and her husband David of Quincy; Loretta Musholt and her husband Daniel of LaGrange, MO; three grandchildren, Andrew, Sarah and Joey Musholt; his sister Dorothy Musholt of Quincy; his good friend, Joyce VanDoorn; and nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Scouting Programs at St. Francis School.

We’re so sad to hear of Raymond’s passing. Our condolences to his friends and family in this difficult time. We got to know Raymond a little here and there as his neighbors for about 5 years & we were sad to see him list the house. We’ll miss him and his kindness very much!
