Raymond Higdon, Jr.
Raymond Higdon, Jr., age 71, of Liberty, Illinois died on Thursday, January 14, 2010 in Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri. He was born on November 11, 1938 in Delavan, IL, the son of Raymond and Gertrude (Pullium) Higdon. He married Dolores George in May 1966. She preceded him in death in June 25, 1975. He later married “Jackie” Harper on May 29, 1976. She survives.
He worked at PAM Printers for over 44 years.
Raymond was an avid sports fan. He was very involved with the Deaf Community. Raymond’s greatest enjoyment was his family.

SEVEN CHILDREN: John Harper, Sr. and his wife Nancy; Gail Wilcox and her husband Chris; Patty Flatt and her husband Billy; Linda Medina and her husband Pedro; Gary Harper and his wife Carla; Lance Higdon and his fiancee Kara Smith; and Vance Higdon and his wife Peggy.
GRANDCHILDREN: John Harper Jr. and his wife Fara; Jeffrey Harper; Erika Wilcox and Kendra Wilcox; Brian Sipek and Dana Sipek; Devin Harper and his wife Erin; Dalton Harper and Tanner Harper; Krayton Higdon and Tasha Higdon; Amanda Higdon, Britney Higdon, Tyler Higdon and Mikayla Higdon
GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Brock, Bryton, Zara, and John “J3”.
THREE BROTHERS: James Higdon and his wife Sue; Robert “Bob” Higdon and his wife Carol; and Ron Higdon.
Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive.
Raymond was preceded in death by: his first wife, his father, one brother Kenny Higdon and one sister Bonnie Eyrse.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by Rev. Randy Dignan. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Quincy Deaf Club, Springfield Deaf Club, the I.S.D.A.A. Hall of Fame, or to the Quincy Senior Center.

We are so sorry to hear of your loss, we felt as if he were a part of our family also. Your whole family is in our prayers, and God has gotten himself another wonderful Angel.
Without him it will not be the same as when he comes to me he has a ready smile and happy expression on his face. I had the priviledge to know him and work with him on Hall of Fame committee. Our condolence to his family.
ISDAA HOF:
I want to let you know that we (ISDAA HOF) will miss Ray with his sudden and untimely departure from us. We will miss him as a member of our HOF committee. I am glad that he was with us at our last meeting on January 2, 2010. We will always remember him as a good man.
