Raymond Doellman

Raymond John Doellman, age 89, of Quincy, died on Thursday, November 22, 2018 in Florida. He was born on August 28, 1929 in Quincy, IL the son of William G. & Edith (Wolterman) Doellman. Ray was a graduate of Quincy Notre Dame. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
He married Dorothy Lee Krogman on November 26, 1953 in Quincy, IL. She survives. Mr. Doellman was an engineer at Harris from 1956 – 1986 when he retired. He then worked as an Independent Insurance Agent from 1986 to the present.
Mr. Doellman was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Elks Club, was a Cub Scout Leader and attended the White House Retreat for over 25 years. Ray was a dedicated catholic church member. He was an avid Indy 500 racing fan and enjoyed RV traveling. He built 3 homes. He also enjoyed bowling, boating, card playing, antique cars, and annual multi-generational family trips to the Ozarks. Above all, he loved and enjoyed his family.
In addition to his wife Dorothy, Ray is also survived by:
CHILDREN: Bill Doellman and his wife Cheri of Lewis Center, OH; Steve Doellman and his wife Lori of Bloomington, IL; and Sue Bucz and her husband Joe of Elk Grove Village, IL.
GRANDCHILDREN: Matt Doellman and his wife Shawna; Jenna Panichi and her husband Mike; Natalee Doellman, Justin Doellman, Drew Doellman, Bradley Doellman, Ashley Bucz and Ryan Bucz.
GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Gwen Doellman and Emma Doellman.
BROTHER-IN-LAW: Charles Orman.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Wilma Orman and Margie Deters.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 8:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 9:00 in St. Peter Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery with the Air Force Burial Detail and the American Legion Post #37 Burial Detail. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 4:00 until 6:30 at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Quincy Notre Dame or to St. Francis Catholic Church.

Dear Doellman Family- words can not say how sorry we are in the loss of our Uncle Ray, your dedicated father, loving husband & proud Great grand father. Ray was always ready with a helping hand for a job needing done, a listening ear of support, a faithful friend, servant of God and loved people. We will all miss him. Tom will never forget those fun Florida card games & I will always remember how special Ray & Dorothy made my last birthday celebration so memorable. We will never forget our Uncle Ray, who was a ray of sunshine wherever he went.
I worked with Ray for many years at Harris and he was a good guy. Sendi g condolences to the e tire Spellman gzmily.

Uncle Ray was always friendly, we even shared the same birthday month and day. My siblings and I used to enjoy, sharing fun times at Aunt Dorothy and Uncle Ray’s house throwing a football outside, shooting pool in the basement while watching a sports game on TV or just running around in their large back yard on a warm sunny summer day with our cousins Bill, Steve and Susan. We are sorry for your loss and the Doellman family is in our prayers.

We are so very sorry to hear of Ray’s passing. We loved him like our second Father & enjoyed going on trips to the Ozarks with him. He was such a faith filled man & we saw that every time he went to our church. He loved his kids & grandkids that was evident. He will be missed..Hugs!

I’ll always appreciate the life-changing gift Ray gave me in introducing me to the White House of St. Louis, a men’s annual silent spiritual retreat. Godspeed to this good man.

I was very saddened to read in Sunday’s newspaper that your dad had passed away Thanksgiving Day. You and the family have our deepest condolences. I ran into Ray a number of times over the years and every time he remembered me and took time to visit. I was always touched by that. Ray was a very friendly man who always wore a warm smile. That’s how I remember him.
