Ralph “Wayne” Pierce
Ralph Wayne Pierce, 83, of Hamilton, IL, formerly of Quincy, IL, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 8:30 PM at Keokuk Area Hospital. He was born on November 4, 1929 in Quincy to Ralph George and Erma McNeall Pierce. He married Mary Alice DeVilbiss on October 29, 1955 in Quincy.
She preceded him in death on January 3, 1992.
Wayne was an accountant, working for Merkels, Quincy and St. Louis Die Casting, Keokuk.
Wayne attended Gem City Business College and Western Illinois University. He was a veteran of US Air Force, serving 10/1950-4/1954 during the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Posts in Quincy and Keokuk and Korean War Veterans. He was also a member of the former St. John’s Catholic Church, Quincy and All Saints Catholic Church, Keokuk.
Wayne volunteered at the Hamilton Senior Center helping with accounting, book keeping and driving the Senior bus.
Survivors include:
3 children: Judith (Ernesto) Garcia of Wichita, KS,
James (Rose) Pierce of Hamilton, IL and
Tracy (DeeAnn) Pierce of Hamilton, IL;
a sister: Sharon Harton of Quincy, IL; a nephew Rick Pierce Harton of California;
10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Services will be held Monday, July 8, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home, Quincy, with Rev. Roy Bauer as celebrant. Burial with Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post # 37 and the Illinois National Guard Honors Detail will be held at Quincy Memorial Park.
Family will meet with friends Sunday, July 7, 2013 between 4:00 and 7:00 PM at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home, Quincy, there will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.
Memorials have been established for the Hamilton Senior Center.

Sharon I am so sorry for the loss of your brother. Although I didn’t know him it appeared he had a wonderful like with family, military service, and his volunteering. I am sure he leaves behind many friends. Take care and call me sometime. 309-368-9723

Judy, Jim, and Tracy, I am sad to hear the passing of your father. My prayers are with you all at this time. He was a very sweet man. I got to talk to him again last year, and he still made me laugh!
