Ralph Koetters

Ralph Leonard Koetters, age 86, of 2728 N. 72nd, died on Saturday, March 24, 2012 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on January 9, 1926 in Quincy the son of Theodore and Mary (Siebers) Koetters. He married Florence Breuer on April 30, 1949 in St. John Catholic Church in Quincy. She survives. Ralph worked at Gardner-Denver from 1950 until his retirement in 1988 after more than 37 years of service. Ralph served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Ralph was a member of the Adams County Old Thyme Association. He enjoyed farming and gardening and restoring old tractors. He was a member of North Side Boat Club, a member of Machinist Lodge #822 for 55 years. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Quarter Century Club at Gardner Denver.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by:
FOUR CHILDREN: William Koetters and his wife Tana of Quincy; Margie Goodapple and her husband Rick of Quincy; Rosemary Koetters of Quincy and Michael Koetters and his wife Annette of Fowler, IL.
FIVE GRANDCHILDREN: Mary Martin and her husband Pat, Jenny Goodapple, Andrew Goodapple, Heather Koetters and Brennan Koetters.
ONE GREAT-GRANDCHILD: Aiden Martin.
ONE SISTER: Virginia Blickhan and her husband Bob;
SISTER-IN-LAW: Martha Koetters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, FOUR BROTHERS: Lawrence, Paul, Elmer and Raymond Koetters and a sister Margaret Ohnemus.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 9:15 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery with military rites conducted at the cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the Adams County Alzheimers Association, the Great River Honor Flight Program or to Camp Callahan.
