Priscilla Joy (Ostrander) Riley
Priscilla Joy (Ostrander) Riley, age 65, of rural Quincy, died Monday, August 19, 2013 in her home. She was born September 22, 1947 in Mishawaka, IN, the daughter of Lee & Dorothea (Hofius) Ostrander.
Mrs. Riley moved to the Quincy area in 1964 where she went to nursing school and worked as a CNA and an X-Ray Technician until retirement.
Mrs. Riley enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, and she did a great deal of gardening and reading in her spare time. Always one to help those less fortunate and in need, she donated to charities throughout the United States and sponsored children in India. Throughout the years, Mrs. Riley opened her home to dozens of foster children while permanent homes were being sought for the children. She also enjoyed caring for animals on her rural farm where she had dozens of animals in which the grandchildren enjoyed to visit and play. As a lover of nature, Mrs. Riley enjoyed spending time on the family lakefront land in Minnesota and riding her horses throughout the hills and streams of rural Quincy.
She is survived by:
TWO CHILDREN: Jason Riley and his wife, Annette, of Liberty, and Brad Riley and his wife, Christie, of Lake Mary, FL.
THREE GRANDCHILDREN: Marissa Riley, Rachel Riley, and Caden Riley.
ONE BROTHER: Henry Ostrander and his wife, Jeo Oiesen, of Taos, NM
HER LONG TIME COMPANION: Bob Oitker of Liberty.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Mrs. Riley was preceded in death by her parents, and a son: Sean Riley.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Private family services will be held at a later date. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
