Phyllis I. Shaw
Phyllis I. Shaw, age 75, of 1321 North 4th, died on Monday, April 15, 2019 in her home. She was born on August 11, 1943 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Arthur & Bertha May (Anderson) Thomas. Phyllis was a graduate of Payson Seymour High School. She married Andrew Shaw on July 1, 1982. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1997. Phyllis worked as a CNA at Blessing Hospital for 25 years. She was a member of the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene.
Phyllis liked to crochet and enjoyed crafts. However, her greatest joy was the time spent with family, especially the grandkids.
She is survived by:
FIVE CHILDREN: Richard Lord of Quincy; Della Robinson-Lord of Quincy; Rodney Lord and his wife Koleen of Camp Point, IL; Ronald K. Lord and his wife Susan of Quincy; and Regina Berhorst of Minnesota.
16 GRANDCHILDREN: Lily Howser and her husband Dennis; Andrew Lord and his wife Anna; Natalie Lord; Wanda Lord; Kurt Cadwallader and his wife Kristy; Tasha Jones and her husband Steve; Kelsey Houghton and her husband John; Kammie Lord; Candice Tabone and her husband Jaime; Kayla Andrews and her husband Chris; Daniel Audet and his wife Rachel; Michelle Audet; William Schoonover and his wife Heaven; Dylan Schoonover and his wife Rose; Elizabeth Berhorst; and Wyatt Berhorst.
ONE BROTHER: Donald Arthur Thomas and his wife Theresa
ONE SISTER: Leona Grace Figert
Numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
In addition to her husband, Phyllis was also preceded in death by a grandson Brayden; 2 brothers: Grant Stone and Mark Stone and 2 sisters: Constance Davis and Lola Vahle.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Sunset Cemetery of the Illinois Veterans Home. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Hospital Foundation for Hospice.
I admired Aunt Phyllis for her strength of character, faith and general orneryness. She will live on in the memories of all of us who loved her.
