Peggy “Peg” Wellman

Peggy “Peg” Wellman, age 88, of Quincy, died Monday, February 6, 2023 at Sunset Home in Quincy.

She was born April 13, 1934 in Cooperstown, IL, the daughter of Edward and Lucille Peacock Logsdon. She married Herbert “Herb” Wellman on January 18, 1958 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Quincy and he preceded her in death on July 22, 2017.

She is survived by her children, Debbie (Mark) Betz of Columbia, MO, Greg Wellman, and Mark (Robin) Wellman, all of Quincy; three grandchildren, Emily Betz, Reagan and Jordan Wellman; several nieces and nephews; and her sister-in-law, Eleanor Logsdon of Rushville, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Jack Logsdon; and one sister, Belle Dose.

Peg was a 1952 graduate of Brown County High School where she was crowned Homecoming Queen. Peg was employed as a registered nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital and Illinois Veteran’s Home, retiring in 1988. She enjoyed trying her luck at the casinos and was a fan of NASCAR, the Kansas City Chiefs, and Nick Saban and Alabama Crimson Tide Football.

Her family gratefully acknowledges the amazing caregivers at the Sunset Home.

Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Duker and Haugh Funeral Home with entombment to follow at Quincy Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held Friday, February 10, 2023 from 5 PM to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Quincy Humane Society, Sunset Home or American Legion Post #37, Military Honors Detail. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.dukerandhaugh.com.
