Peggy D. Fletcher

Peggy D. Fletcher, age 77, of 901 South 36th Street, formerly of 1513 College Street, and Dixon, Illinois died on Sunday, August 30, 2009 in her home. She was born on January 20, 1932 in Rosiclare, Illinois, a daughter of Forest E. and Helen (Osman) Mott. She married James E. Fletcher on November 21, 1952 in Sterling, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 26, 2008.

She was a member of Faith Christian Church in Quincy. She was a former member and Deaconess at Central Christian Church in Dixon, Illinois where she was a very active member. She was a member of Lee County Home Extension Unit in Dixon, Illinois.

Peggy was employed by Orchard Glen Nursing Home in Dixon, Illinois where she was in charge of the Dietary Department. She also worked at Aqua Aquariums in Dixon, Illinois.

She enjoyed raising tropical and salt water fish in her aquariums, reading, and playing cards and games with family and friends.

Survivors include:
ONE SON: James Fletcher, Jr., and his wife Brenda of Sanford, N.C.;
TWO DAUGHTERS: Freda Meeks and her husband John of Quincy, and Carol White and her husband Neil of Sanford, N.C.;
THREE BROTHERS: Donald Mott and his wife Libby of Mt. Morris, IL, Willard Mott and his wife Marcella of Princeton, IL, and Andy Mott of Dixon, IL;
GRANDCHILDREN: Andrea Fletcher of S.C., Sarah Miller and her husband John of Mt. Sterling, IL, Robert Lund and his wife Rachel of Crest Hill, IL, Katherine White of Greenville, N.C., and Lindsey White of Sanford, NC;
STEP-GRANDDAUGHTER: Kacie Layton and her husband Lester of Greenville, S.C.;
TWO GREAT-GRANDSONS: Luke Miller and Dylan Fletcher;
ONE STEP-GREAT-GRANDSON: Hunter Layton;
Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, and one sister Jean Zimmerman.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 4, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by Rev. Matthew Worstell and Pastor Dalmus Meeks. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Benevolence Program at Faith Christian Church. www.dukerandhaugh.com

    Dear Freda and family Peggy was such a loving caring person and I had many wonderful days working and learning from her when we were at Aqua Aquariums. She had such a wealth of knowledge that she was willing to share with me and everyone who knew her. We will all miss her greatly. Sending sincere sympathy to all of you. Emma Hubbs
