Paul “Whitey” McClelland
Paul ‘Whitey’ McClelland, age 80, of Quincy, died on Saturday, October 23, 2021 in his home. He was born on October 11, 1941 in Quincy the son of Ray & Helen (McNay) McClelland. He served in the United States Navy. He married Patricia Taylor on August 27, 1988. She survives.
Whitey was a truck driver for many years in the Quincy area. After his retirement, he worked for the Unity School District in Mendon as a bus driver. Whitey was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.
Whitey was an avid sports fan. He loved St. Louis Cardinal Baseball, St Louis Blues Hockey, and Indiana Hoosier Basketball. He was also always supportive of the Unity Mustang Sports, Quincy University Baseball and JWCC Basketball. Whitey also loved his ‘granddogs’ Bailey and Barkley. Above all though, his greatest love was time spent with family and friends.
The family would like to especially thank Dr. Steven Krause along with the staff of Blessing Cancer Center, Blessing Heart and Vascular Center and the Blessing Hospice for the wonderful care that they gave to Whitey.
In addition to his wife, Whitey is also survived by:
TWO CHILDREN: Melissa (Brad) Voth of Mendon, IL and Sara Gordy (Matt Higley) of Quincy.
GRANDCHILDREN: Logan, Hunter and Isabella Voth.
SIBLINGS: Ruth Whipps, Dick (Rachel) McClelland, Sandra (Bill) Fessler, and Lowell (Barb) McClelland.
BROTHER-IN-LAW: Jerry Seals
SISTER-IN-LAW: Cleone McClelland
Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends: Bob & Penny Musolino and Sylvia Wiese also survive.
Whitey was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Pat Seals, Marian Tenhouse along with her husband Don, Alma Downs along with her husband Clinton, Donald McClelland, Thelma Keim along with her husband Roger, Edward McClelland along with his wife Loraine and Gary McClelland in infancy.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of the services. A burial will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Cancer Center, the Blessing Heart and Vascular Center or to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
I met Whitey once and very much enjoyed our visit. Pat, i loved hearing stories you told about you and Whitey. I’m so sorry to hear about his passing. My thoughts are with you and your family.
