Patrick C. McClean
Patrick C. McClean, age 63, of 120 Morton Drive, Quincy, died on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 in his home. Patrick was born on April 24, 1948 in Quincy, the son of Cecil “Sprout” & Evelyn (Schreacke) McClean.
Patrick was patriotic, religious, industrous and adventurous. He attended St.John’s and then Christian Brothers, giving him a strong foundation for life. He attended a Curisillo later in life that deepened his committment to his faith. Father Chuck became his friend and spiritual advisor, which helped him to form an even stronger bond with God. He served his country proudly. He received his orders for Vietnam one week after burying his infant daughter in Germany but declined a hardship clause that would have kept him from going. He was with the first troop withdrawn from Vietnam but volunteered to stay longer. Family was his greatest joy! He stayed close with his brothers and sister and cherished his two daughters and his five grandchildren. He was always involved in one adventure or another. He held an annual Wild Game Dinner for his friends for years. He took lengthy motorcycle trips throughout the country with Rod and Chubby. Pat took lessons so that he could really experience sky diving . However, his biggest adventure was taking each grandchild to Disneyworld once he/she attained the age of five. He was so proud of Jennifer for stepping up and becoming the third generation to serve the community through Sprout’s. His parents founded Sprout’s in 1940, Pat bought the restaurant from his mother in 1979, after running it for nine years. His staff was more like family and he cared deeply about their well being. Tracy and her daughters became family, too. He fought a very long and a very difficult battle with cancer that proved once again how brave he really was. He was blessed to have many dear friends that were always there for him as well as his devoted family. He kept his famous sense of humor through it all.
Survivors include:
TWO CHILDREN: Doris Gregory and her husband, Scott, of Houston, TX and Jenny Wiemelt and her husband, Bill, of Quincy
