Patricia A. “Pat” Koch, age 72, formerly of Quincy died on Thursday, October 3, 2024 in Memorial Hospital, Springfield, IL. She was born on November 25, 1951 in Quincy, IL the daughter of James F. and Loretta L. (Heberlein) Koch.
Pat graduated from St. Francis Grade School, was a 1970 graduate of Notre Dame High School and graduate of Gem City Business College. She was of the Catholic faith. Pat worked at the former Quincy K-Mart store managing the sporting goods department and traveled with the company to new stores, helping them get set up for opening. She had worked as a business manager and retired from SIU School of Medicine in Springfield, IL.
Pat lived with diabetes her entire life, and did so generously, with her hospitality, and creative and fun gift giving at the holidays. She most enjoyed visiting with Uncle Don at Bernie and Susie’s family gatherings. She loved being a proud aunt to her nieces and nephews.
She adored her cats, funnel cakes, and Peeps at Eastertime. She took the trip of a lifetime with her brothers, Bernie and Dave when Dave was in the military and stationed in Germany. They had a 30-day Eurorail train pass and visited nine different countries. Riding with Dave on his motorcycle was one of her favorite things. Pat knew that she could always count on her brother Randy to help fix things around her house or on her vehicle.
Survivors include her three brothers: David Koch, Sr., of Liberty, Bernie (Susie) Koch of Liberty and Randall Koch of Quincy. Nieces and nephews: David Koch (Taylor); Melissa Obert (Andrew) and Broc Hampsmire (Rachel). Great nieces and nephews David James Koch, Barrett Lee Koch, Piper Obert, Aidan Obert, Anna Hampsmire and Emma Hampsmire.
Two aunts, Virgina and Marilyn Heberlein; her beloved caretaker for over nine years, Ashley Pollock of Springfield and Ashley’s children Tiana and Terrion who thought of Pat as their grandma. Many cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, uncles, Leo Heberlein, Don Heberlein and Bernie Heberlein, and aunts, Mary Ann (Heberlein) Loos and her husband Glenn Loos and Carolyn (Koch) Boschert and her husband Quentin Boschert.
