Patricia Ann Kerkering Maguire
Patricia Ann Kerkering Maguire age 89, of Quincy died on Friday, March 27, 2020 in Good Samaritan Home. She was born August 5, 1930, Kankakee, IL, a daughter of Frank and Lela Boster Kerkering.
She married Terry Maguire Sept. 30, 1950, in St. John Catholic Church. Terry died February 27, 2013
Patricia was a 1948 graduate of Quincy High School and was a member of the National Honor Society. She also attended Quincy College.
A devout Catholic, she was currently a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, and a former member of St. Dominic Catholic Church. She was a member of Ladies of St. Francis.
Professionally, Patricia had worked at South Side Bank, Gem City Savings and Loan, as music teacher at St. Dominic School for 25 years, and bookkeeper at St. Dominic Church. She was the organist at St. Dominic Church and at Illinois Veterans Home Catholic chapel for 50 years. For many years, she was an organist at Duker Haugh Funeral Home.
Patricia was active in QHS Class of 1948 reunions and compiled the reunion booklets. She loved time spent in her flower garden and with her beloved cat Frances.
Survivors include her two daughters: Kathy (Bill) Kayser of Perry, MO and Jane (Hal) Koenig, of Quincy.
Six grandchildren, Adam Zopf of Los Angeles CA, Eric Zopf (Sarah) of Wheeling IL, Nicole Kayser (Eric)Wheatley of Hamilton IL, Sarah Kayser Braden (Ross) of West Point Iowa; Kim Koenig of Baldwin, MO. Kyle Koenig of Quincy;
five great-granddaughters, Adelyn and Hayden Wheatley of Hamilton IL and Mylin and Vayda Braden of West Point, Iowa and Haylee Zopf of Wheeling IL.
A sister-in-law, Kathy Maguire (Wes) Wessel of Sheboygan, WI and several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter Peggy, her parents and four brothers, George, Frank, Roger and Tom Kerkering and her sister Margaret (John) Lee.
Patricia’s family would like to thank the compassionate and caring ladies from Addus Home Health care, the staff at Good Samaritan Home, Dr. Schwartz and Dr. Beth and staff. The family is extremely thankful for Mom’s wonderful neighbors who kept a watchful eye on her.
Funeral services will be held privately in accordance with the restrictions in place to limit public gatherings due to Covid-19. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. So sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. She was a wonderful lady. I took piano lessons from her for many years. She always was so kind and had a smile on her face. I enjoyed seeing her flower gardens when I came to your house.
I was so sorry to learn of the death of Pat. I was a student of hers (piano & organ) for several years. She made learning a joy, and I always looked forward to my lessons with her. She was such a kind, cheerful person. It was always a pleasure visit with her. She will be missed.

So, so sorry for your loss. I knew Pat from St Dominic’s and through her children. I went to grade school with them at St Dominic’s. I watched her play music many times. She was a wonderful, kind person. Sincere sympathy and Prayers to the family.

Please accept my condolences on Pat’s passing. She was a sweet lady and gave me a ride home from serving at the old Soldiers and Sailors Home in St. Lawrence Chapel. I loved to hear her play the organ and sing. I am sure she will be missed by many people. You can rest knowing that she and Terry are back together. May God Bless and comfort you.

Dear Family, I have so many pictures of Pat with Father Loyola and myself at St. Lawrence chapel at soldiers home, 20 years we were together there. She dame in 54 and I came there in , 64. Home many good times and friendships. She was train to play the organ at St. Rose by sister Rita Marie Kelly CPPS. Sister trained many lady organist to play in Quincy.
