I had the chance opportunity to interact with Pamela, and she was an amazing woman. I only learned of her passing today and was deeply saddened by the news. It doesn’t seem real as I type this message. My condolences to her family; may she SIP.
I am sorry I didn’t catch this earlier. The smile in the picture is Pam. She was a classmate au Notre Dame. Anytime I saw her she treated me with such Joy and love. Thank you Pam.
I was so sad to hear about Pam’s death.
I remember the open house when Our Lady’s Inn was in the early planning and recruiting phase. I came because of a story in the St Louis Review.
When I saw the state of the ceiling on the third floor, I was totally doubtful that the Julia house could be made livable. I was wondering why they had not torn the building down instead.
Then I heard the expectant faith that Pam had on how she planned to open the place in a few months. She was getting parishes to adopt a room. She seemed so sure it would happen because God was with us. Her faith overcame my doubts, so I decided to do what I could to help. I was blessed with a grant to work on the project full time. I accepted an offer to live in a Marianist Volunteer community while I served the ladies at Our Lady’s Inn.
So many blessings came to me out of that decision. I was touched by the love of the pregnant women for their children. I learned parenting methods that totally influenced how I raised our children. The life changing event came out of meeting my husband, Bob. I never would have met him without Our Lady’s Inn. After the religious life desire left me, I saw Bob at a wedding of another Our Lady’s Inn couple. That was the beginning of what ended up with 35 years of marriage.
Pam was the first spark in changing the rest of my life. I will always be grateful I met her.
