Norma Ponsot

Norma Ponsot, age 88, of 801 Pawn Avenue, died at 7:50 AM on Friday, April 21, 2017 in her home. Norma was born on February 3rd, 1929 in St. Louis, MO. She was the daughter of Elsie (Eves) Caldwell and Cassius “Bill” Caldwell. She married James R. ‘Jim’ Ponsot on June 25, 1949 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in St. Louis. She graduated from Cleveland High School in St. Louis in 1947. She was a loving wife, mother and household chief. She also was a loving grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend. She is survived by her husband, Jim, and three sons: Mark of Monroe City, MO; Gary (Juanita) of Union, MO and Michael ‘Mike’ (Rae Dean) of Quincy, one daughter: Debbie (Randy) Brown of Round Rock , Texas. Three Grandchildren: Patrick Dougherty of Grand Prarie, Texas; Molly (John) Bucy and Megan Dougherty all of Austin Texas. One sister: Evelyn Lauck of St. Louis and a Cousin: Shirley (Bob) Newman of St. Peters, MO. One Nephew and four nieces.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Norma was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM in St. Anthony Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home Activities Fund. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    My dear Aunt Norma was one of my dearest friends. She was pure love. I am so sorry for your loss. God took her home and she is now blissfully watching over all of us.
