Norma L. Bent

Norma L. Bent, age 88, of Liberty, died on Saturday, May 15, 2021 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on August 10, 1932 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of Iven and Edith (Fischer) Clark. She married Delbert Bent on August 24th, 1952 in Camp Point, IL. He survives. Along with her husband, Norma farmed in the Liberty area for over 60 years.

Norma was of the Christian Faith. Norma and Delbert enjoyed traveling. They went on several cruises over the years, once going through the Panama Canal. They visited all 50 states and also travelled to Europe. Norma also enjoyed bird watching, gardening, crocheting and needlework and also snowmobiling. She was famous for her chocolate chip cookies. Above everything else though, she was the constant support for her husband and family in their activities.

In addition to her husband, Norma is also survived by:
TWO CHILDREN: Charles L. “Chuck” Bent of Liberty, IL and Linda Mathews (Gregory) also of Liberty.
SIX GRANDCHILDREN: Amy Vickers, Thomas Bent (Samantha), David Bent (Jessica), Brett Mathews (Emily), Lindsay Dugan and Tyler Mathews (Dr. Jennifer Lee)
11 Great-grandchildren, a special friend of the family: Mary Lenz, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson Alexander Clark Bent.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 11:30 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at The Crossing, 48th & Maine St. Memorials may be made to the Adams County Folks Care or to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
