Norma Delores Peters
Norma Delores Peters, age 88, of Quincy, died on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Sunset Home. She was born on February 28, 1932 in Merna, Nebraska, the daughter of William and Mary (Reyner) Poor. She graduated from Chula Vista High School in California in 1949. She married Robert ‘Bob’ Peters on December 20, 1961 in California. He preceded her in death on February 28, 2007. Through the years Norma worked as a seamstress and as an artist. Norma spent many years dedicated to watching the Hour of Power with the Rev. Robert Schuller. Norma’s family moved to California when she was 11. Loving the life in California, she started her family there. While Norma worked hard to provide for her family, she continued to follow her dream of being an artist. She took at home art classes to learn how to improve and grow.
Bob and Norma met in California and began their life together in 1961. Between the years of 1974 and 2007, Bob and Norma made numerous moves. Their moves were prompted by job opportunities and / or the need to be closer to family. During this time frame, Norma used her seamstress skills to earn a living for her family. For many years she operated a business out of her home, where she offered reweaving and tailoring services. She even custom made clothing. In fact she made both of her daughter’s wedding dresses.
In retirement life, Norma enjoyed gardening, birds, and being a care-giver. She loved being able to care for others. After Bob’s passing, she spent her last years of life in Quincy. While living at the Senior Center, she met Gene Otten and they enjoyed each other’s companionship. Norma enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, and going on outings with Gene. Norma spent her last few years at Sunset Home. While there, she spent hours coloring some very detailed pictures and sharing her art with others.
