Nellyne “Nell” A. Krueger

Nellyne “Nell” A. Krueger, age 69, of Quincy, formerly of Highland Park, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2021, in her home. Nell was born in Chicago, Illinois to George and Joan (Dupuy) Tcharanian. Nell and her husband Michael were married on June 8, 1974, in Wilmett, Illinois, and shared 47 beautiful years of marriage together as a team. He survives.

Nell worked at the Highland Park Library for 9 years and enjoyed working with both young and old finding the materials they needed. She especially enjoyed helping children find material for book reports on subjects they were interested in and having them come back to tell her they received an A. She loved gardening all through the years and fishing with her husband on their boat, which was a shared enjoyment. Nell and Mike also loved working on their 1st house together, in which they and their only son Steve lived in for 27 years. Hence the name “team Krueger.”

The neighborhood children referred to Nell’s house as “Grandma’s House”, which she found hilarious. She was active through her son’s school years and high school at Loyola Academy volunteering in every way and forming relationships with other parents. Nell also loved art and design, which she always tried to reflect in their home with the help of HGTV, which meant “team Krueger” would be at it again.

Nell was also active in a bowling league in Quincy for 13 years where she made many wonderful friends. Over the last 5 years, Nell and Mike attended the Good Grief Group which specializes in helping people who have lost their spouse or a close relative and watched as they grew closer in their relationship together in friendship and understanding which made both happy.

Family was always extremely important to her and any way she could help she would give it her all. She especially loved helping with family dinners and holidays by cooking and baking up a storm.
God blessed her with a wonderful husband, son, and family.

In addition to her husband Mike, Nell is survived by her sisters, Darlene Dilillo of Indian Head Trail, IL and Kathleen Kennedy (Robert Creighton) of Scottsdale, AZ; her daughter-in-law, Tara Krueger of Quincy; her grandchildren and loving treasures of her life, Brock Steven Krueger and Brooklynne Noel Krueger; two nieces, Suzanne Pittacora (James) of Western Springs, IL and Jacquelin Pittacora; nephews, Robert F. Dilillo Jr. (Heather), Vincent Pittacora, James Pittacora Jr., and John Krueger; her in-laws, Keith C. Krueger (Elizabeth) of Skokie, IL and Patricia Machun (Rick) of Prospect Heights, IL; and her dear friends, Brother Edward Arambasich of Joliet, IL, Dave and Christine Horman and Dave and Dana Ludwig of Quincy along with many other wonderful friends.

Nell was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Steven Michael Krueger and one brother-in-law, Robert Dilillo.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at 9:30 A.M. in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home and 10:00 A.M. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home. As per Nell’s wishes, the family requests that no flowers or plants be sent. Memorials are suggested to the Blessed Sacrament School in Nell’s name.
