Nathaniel (Nate) Kenneth Sorrill

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Nathaniel (Nate) Kenneth Sorrill, 46, of Quincy, Illinois. Nathan was a beloved son, brother, cousin, and friend, who left us all too soon, but has also left an incredible mark on the lives of everyone who knew him. Nate was kind and was known for his selflessness, often going out of his way to help others, even if it meant offering the shirt off his own back without hesitation.

Nate was a dreamer who was free spirited and loved the outdoors. Whether it was camping, riding wave runners or simply enjoying the beauty of nature, he found peace and joy in the world around him. His two cats were a source of comfort and cherished companionship.
Nathan was a talented craftsman who had a gift for construction. He worked for several companies over the years. He dreamed of one day owning his own business and often spoke of starting a company with his cousin Jason, with whom he shared a close bond. Together, they flipped several houses. Nate took immense pride in the work they accomplished.

Nate was excited with his upcoming role as a new Uncle, a role he was eager to embrace with his trademark of kindness and love. Despite the challenges he faced with mental illness, Nate’s generous spirit and caring nature shined bright.

He will be remembered for his adventurous soul, hardworking nature, and unwavering generosity. Nathan’s legacy of compassion and love will live on in the hearts of his friends and family forever. Survivors include his three siblings Sara, Nicholas and Skyler and his nephew Hayes, who is on the way.

Rest in peace, Nathan. Your light will continue to shine in the hearts of all those who loved you.

Nathan will be laid to rest near his parents, Kenneth and Lisa Sorrill at Calvary Cemetery. Services are being handled by Duker and Haugh Funeral Home. A private service will be held. Please contact the family for funeral details.

    Sara and family,
I was shocked and saddened when I heard of Nathan’s passing. I had so many 1-1 conversations with him, both in my classroom and in my office at QND. He so wanted to do the right thing and please people. He didn’t care what happened to him, as long as he was able to help a friend. He was so kind. I have nothing but fond memories of your brother. I will pray that God gives you the strength you need in the tough times ahead. I also will pray that HE fills your hearts with only the great memories that you created, and shared, with Nathan. God Bless.
