Nancy Jane Magness
Nancy Jane Magness, age 74, of Quincy, formerly of Galesburg, IL died on Monday, May 15, 2023 in Blessing Hospital Emergency Room. She was born June 13, 1948 in Beardstown, IL the daughter of Herschel and Helen Louise (Wheeler) Baer and was the youngest of 12 children. Nancy married Stanley E. Magness on October 8, 1966 in Abingdon, IL. He survives.
Nancy was a 1966 graduate of Beardstown High School.
She was a personnel director for Nypro (plastic manufacturing) in Galesburg and a homemaker for many years.
She loved decorating her home, word games like Scrabble and especially the time spent with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Stanley, Nancy is survived by her children: April Baldwin (Carl Watson) of Hannibal, MO and Heather (Matt) Hillhouse of Galesburg, IL; Grandchildren: Tori Baldwin (Gavin Mulkey) of Lenexa, KS and Jackson and Olivia Hillhouse both of Galesburg, IL; siblings: Ted Baer, Tom Baer, Jack Baer and Judy DeWitt. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Gregory Baldwin, siblings, Phil and Bill Baer, Sis Mallicoat, Jim Baer, Patricia Kramer, Peg Elmore and Carolyn Baer.
Cremation rites will be accorded. No formal services are planned at this time. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Duker & Haugh Funeral Home are in charge of the arrangements. Messages may be shared online at www.dukerandhaugh.com.
