Mrs. Rose E. Phillips

Mrs. Rose E. Phillips age 84, of Beverly, IL died on Monday, July 25, 2016 at 10:35 a.m. in the Barry Community Care Center. Rose was born on September 22, 1931 in Schuyler County, IL a daughter of Raymond E. and M. Vonneta (Berry) Leezer Lane. She married Melvin K. Phillips on February 22, 1948, he preceded her in death in 1994.

Rose had worked at Motorola years ago, she was a residential caregiver and a homemaker. She was a member of Beverly United Methodist Church. Rose was an active member of her church, often helping decorate and get ready for church events. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting and making crafts.

Survivors include her children: Raymond (Teresa) Phillips of Petersburg, IL; Dale (Arettia) Phillips of Liberty; Roger ( Mary) Phillips of Baylis, IL; Richard Phillips of Liberty, IL; Sharon (Steven) Frese of Fowler, IL; Mark Phillips of Coatsburg, IL. A brother, Marlyn (Alice) Leezer of New Berlin, IL; a sister-in-law, Carol Leezer of Quincy; 15 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and several cousins also survive.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son John M. Phillips, a daughter, Anita M. Brown, a sister, Rayetta Rickard, a brother Leslie Leezer and a brother in infancy, Raymond Richard Leezer.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Beverly United Methodist Church in Beverly, IL with the Rev. Lois Sorrill. Interment will be in Mound Prairie Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy.
Memorials are suggested to Beverly United Methodist Church or to Mound Prairie Cemetery.

    So sorry to hear of Rose’s passing. What fond memories I have of her growing up in the Beverly Church. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
