Morris Lee Cobb
Morris Cobb, age 75, of Quincy, died on Monday, June 24, 2013 in his home.
Morris’ life story began on October 29, 1937 when he was born at 11:29 pm at Blessing Hospital in Quincy Illinois to the proud parents of Eugene and Cora Pauline Cobb. Morris was third in the line-up of six siblings. He attended Quincy Public Schools and excelled in sports, particularly baseball and football. He graduated from Quincy Senior High school in 1955 and joined the United States Air Force where he served his Country for four years. Morris attended Bethel A.M.E. Church along with his family and accepted Christ at an early age.
Upon returning from the Air Force, Morris moved to Chicago where he attended and graduated from Morrisse’s Academy of Beauty Couture in 1960. Morris worked as a beautician for many years in Quincy.
Morris’s entrepreneurial spirit continued, he successfully owned and operated China Delight a Restaurant of Chinese Cuisine located on 6th and Chestnut serving the Quincy Community for over six years.
Morris returned to School in 1967 and obtained a Diploma from the Coyne School of Electronics in Chicago, Illinois. Morris later became employed at Sears as an Electronics Technician and worked there for 22 years; he retired from Sears in 1998. In addition to Electronics, Morris was gifted with Carpentry Skills. He along with his brother Albert helped to build the family home and years later he built an addition to his current residence.
Morris came out of retirement to enjoy the simple pleasures in life that he loved most; such as golfing, fishing, bowling and spending time with his family and many friends.
Morris leaves to cherish his memories and Love his daughter; Pamela Gale Cobb ~ Jones from Chicago, Illinois; His sisters, Mary Hernandez from Arizona and Judy Crump (Bill) from California; his Brother Albert Cobb (Donna) from Quincy Illinois; First Cousins Leslie Fonza (Connie) from Quincy, Illinois; Grandsons Tremayne (TJ) and Earl Jones from Chicago Illinois; Great grandchildren Yasmine Nicole Jones from Fort Wayne, Indiana, and JaKhorion Jones from Hammond, Indiana; his long time companion Turah Logue and her family: Tana, Maggie and Joel Logue; Grandpa’s Grandbabies: Taleigha, Taeja, Taryn, Jayce and Ja’Zon. You brought so much joy and happiness into his life; he was blessed to have known you all. Morris is also survived by a host of relatives and many Friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 28, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by Pastor James Hailey. Interment in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 12:00 noon until the time of the services. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
