Monty Heilwagen

Monty Heilwagen, age 59, of Payson, IL, died on Thursday, August 10, 2017 after a courageous 5 year battle with cancer. Monty died in the home of his brother at 1523 Oak St.in Quincy, surrounded by his wife and family. He was born on January 28, 1958 in Quincy, IL the son of Jack and Arlene (Aschemann) Heilwagen. He served in the United States Navy. He worked for General Mills in Hannibal, MO for many years. Prior to that, he had worked for DURA in Hannibal. He married Analee Diano on July 16, 2010. She survives. He was of the Catholic Faith.

Monty was an avid Cardinals fan. He was an outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He was a devotee of natural medicine and home medicine.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by:
SIBLINGS: Tom Heilwagen (Colleen) of Glenview, IL; Rory Heilwagen; Scott Heilwagen; and Greg Heilwagen (Kim) all of Quincy.
NIECES AND NEPHEWS INCLUDING: Craig Heilwagen of Glenview, IL; Hannah and Emma Heilwagen also of Quincy.

Monty was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery with military rites conducted at the cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Fishing for Freedom.

    So very sorry for your loss. May God grant you peace and comfort during your time of loss and sorrow. I have not seen Monty since we were teenagers. It is amazing that we lived in the same general vicinity and had not seen each other in all those years.

    Very very sorry for your loss. I worked with Monty down in Hannibal when Dura was called Hannicon. He was a very nice guy. I was shocked to hear of his passing. Didn’t realize he was battling cancer. It’s a horrible thing and cares nothing about what age a person is. Again I’m sorry to all the family for losing such a great guy at such a young age.
