Monica K. Thomas
Monica K. Thomas, 73, of Liberty, Illinois, passed away at Blessing Hospital on August 11, 2021. Monica was born to George and Marcella (Mackessy) Lally in Chicago, Illinois on May 18, 1948. She married Kenneth Thomas in Chicago on October 6, 1972.
Monica is survived by her husband, Kenneth; her son Joshua Thomas and his wife Elizabeth, and their children, Sebastian and Jocelyn; her son Benjamin Thomas and his wife Kerry, and their children Andrew and Katelynn. Her sister Adrienne Rizzo and her husband Jerome, their daughter Lauren Wilcox, and her daughter Adeline; and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Lally. Nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
In addition to her parents, Monica was preceded in death by her grandson Danny Thomas in infancy, her sister Denise Lally, her brothers James Lally and Jerome Lally.
Monica enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises. She went to Wisconsin each summer and loved to be there with her family. She played Mahjong, trivia and cards with her friends and liked to spend time in her garden.
A private gathering for her family and friends will be held at a later date. Duker and Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials to St Jude Children’s Hospital or the charity of the donor’s choice.
