Mildred M. Zehnle

Mildred M. Zehnle, age 94, of Sunset Home, formerly of 301 N. 8th Street, Quincy, died on Thursday, April 3, 2014 in Sunset Home. She was born on March 8, 1920 in Quincy, a daughter of William & Elizabeth (Vogel) Terwelp. She married George Arthur “Art” Zehnle on December 30, 1941. He preceded her in death.

Mildred was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She was a former member of St. John the Baptist Church.

She worked as a secretary for Celotex until her retirement. Mildred enjoyed volunteering for Blessing Hospital, the Heart Association and was involved with Cursillo.

She is survived by:
ONE DAUGHTER, Mary Reckers and her husband Robert of Quincy,
SEVEN GRANDCHILDREN, Ronald Zehnle, Christine Zehnle, Fr. Daren Zehnle, David and Angela Zehnle, Robert S. and Darcie Reckers, Denise A. and Matt Poepping and Daniel Reckers;
TWO GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, Lindy Hahn & Matthew Zehnle;
ONE GREAT GREAT-GRANDCHILD, Leo Hahn

In addition to her husband, Arthur, she was preceded in death by a son George William Zehnle; two grandchildren Matthew Zehnle & Brian Reckers; and two sisters, Lucille Dietrich & Kathryn Behrensmeyer.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Heart Association of Adams County.
