Mildred Louise Shores

Mildred Louise Shores, age 89, of St. Vincent’s Home, formerly of 932 Lind St., Quincy, died on Thursday, August 23, 2012 in the Home. She was born on June 1, 1923 in Mt. Vernon, IL, a daughter of Thomas & Bessie (Coberly) Richardson. She first married John Biancardi. John preceded her in death in 1944. She then married Jessie Hood. She later married Woodrow “Woody” Shores. Woody preceded her in death in 1961.

In earlier years, Mildred worked in Gary, IN in steelwork. She most recently was a housekeeper at St. Vincent’s Home.

Mildred was a strong Christian. She loved animals & took care of several dogs. She liked to read. Her greatest enjoyment, however, was her children & grandchildren.

Survivors include:
THREE CHILDREN: Marie Baird of Novinger, MO; Richard L. Hood, Sr. of Quincy, and Sandra Benson and her significant other Karl Speer of Durham, MO;
THIRTEEN GRANDCHILDREN, Leslie (Diana) Baird, Ozzie (Lisa) Baird, Michael (Cindy) Baird, Kevin (Kelli) Baird, Jeff (Mandy) Baird, Vicky (JR) Powell, Johnny Presley, Everett Warner, Richard L. Hood, Jr., Valerie Young, Leslie (Phil) Goldstein, Penny Amos and Orville Leslie Andrews III.
ONE BROTHER, Joseph Richardson and his wife Julie
ONE SISTER, Frances Hartman and her husband Richard
A host of GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, a GREAT-GREAT GRANDCHILD, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kay Kaufman, a granddaughter, Carla Lee Williams and two great-grandchildren, Jessica & Carl; three brothers, Forrest Richardson, Harold Richardson and John Richardson.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday morning beginning at 11:30 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent’s Home. www.dukerandhaugh.com

    Dear Sandy, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. She was a sweet lady and I know you will miss her greatly.
