Mildred Caroline Frericks

Mildred Caroline Frericks, age 93, formerly of 3501 Colonial Court, went to heaven surrounded by her loving family on Friday, January 13, 2012, in the Good Samaritan Home. She was born on March 16, 1918 in Ellington Township, Adams County, IL, the daughter of Henry G. and Ida (Talken) Mast. She married Joseph P. Frericks on May 8th, 1940 in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on September 7, 1995. Mildred was a housewife and a seamstress. Mildred was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church and a former member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church. She was a long time officer of the St. Dominic Ladies, the St. Dominic Quilters, the Ladies of St. Francis, and Our Ladies of Angels Seminary Guild. She was Eucharistic Minister for Blessing Hospital and Director for Cursillo.
In her younger years, Mildred was a 4H leader for the Melrose Sunshine 4H Club. She enjoyed exhibiting projects at the state fair. She enjoyed celebrating Mother’s Day for over 40 years at the Hills of Saint Francis with her family. She traveled to Rome, the Vatican and toured Ireland. She made handmade quilts for each child and grandchild, and crocheted Last Supper pictures for each family.

Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
In addition to her husband, Mildred was preceded in death by one son Camillus Peter Frericks, a grandchild, Christine Woodward; son-in-law, Cyril D Knuffman; siblings George and Theresa in infancy and brothers Eugene, Leo, Lawrence and Roger Mast.

Per her wishes, Mildred donated her body to Washington University Medical School.
A Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 11:30 Am in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Visitation will be at St. Francis Solanus Church on Saturday, January 21st, 9:30 am until time of Mass at 11:30 am.
Memorials may be made to St. Francis Solanus Grade School or to the Ladies of Charity. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    Carlene & Family, I am so sorry to learn of your mother’s death. In reading her obituary, it sounds as if she lead a very full life. No matter the age or illness, we really miss the deceased after death. It also sounds as if she created many happy memories for the family. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.     I remember my great aunt Millie very fondly. She always had a smile for me as a child. What an amazing woman! My condolences to the her immediate family.
