Michael L. Moretti, Sr.
Michael L. Moretti, Sr., age 56, of the Illinois Veterans Home, died on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 7:40 AM in the Illinois Veterans Home. He was born on April 11, 1958 in Enid, OK the son of Alvin and Betty (Clemons) Moretti. He married Joetta (Jewsbury) Cravens on December 30, 2008. She survives. Mr. Moretti was a Navy Seabee and retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer after almost 26 years of service to his country. Mr. Moretti was later employed by the Macon Co. Highway Dept. He was of the Christian Faith. Mr. Moretti was always working and was good at pretty much everything he did.
In addition to his wife, Joetta, he is also survived by:
FOUR CHILDREN: Christine Gonzales and her husband Angel of San Antonio, TX: Amanda Arthur of Jacksonville, FL; Michael Moretti, Jr. and his wife Erin of Lewisburg, TN; and Matthew Donaldson of Quincy.
EIGHT GRANDCHILDREN: Mariah, Alanna, Roman, Anthony, Isaiah, Carter, Jimmy and Miranda.
EIGHT BROTHERS, TWO SISTERS and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law: Jay Arthur.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the All Faiths Chapel of the Illinois Veterans Home. Interment in Sunset Cemetery with military rites conducted at the cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday morning from 9:00 until the time of the services at the chapel. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home Activities Fund. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
My sincerest sympathy to Mike’s family and friends. I was saddened to learn of Mike’s passing and will never forget my fellow Chief. I’m honored to have served with Mike in NMCB 40 and fondly remember our CPO Initiation together in 1989 at Rota, Spain. Godspeed my Brother.

I got to meet this fine man while Mike,Erin,Anthony, & Isaiah “moved” into our lives. We all have losses but the pain is the same . I wish for this family to heal by the grace of God. Bless you all!
