    Dear Family,
It surely is shocking news to hear Mike died.
He was a relative on my grandmothers side, the Jasper family, and truly a gentleman to know.
I called him two years ago, and we had a great time talking about family history, but also so many people we had known together too.
His wife Gayle was a treasure to know too.
Mike will be missed, ill never forget him in my prayers, or his memories.

What a good man Mike Happekotte was. I knew him professionally and personally. There are so many good things to say about him. Most exemplary was his Christian spirit, which defined him. I frequently met him helping others, to feed them, clothe them, shelter them, visit them. For years, Mike started his day opening the doors of St. Francis Catholic Church to worshippers, then assisting the priest at Mass. I would often see Mike at a restaurant after Mass picking up breakfast for others or carrying his toolkit to help with a repair at another’s residence. Mike made himself a servant. My condolences to family and friends. I’ll miss his friendship and his kindness.

I am so sorry to hear Mike passed away. Mike and Gayle were good friends with my parents Bill and Sandra Epperson since the 60’s. It was always a pleasure seeing them and thoroughly enjoyed their visits. Our hearts are broken but, if you knew Mike, you know exactly where Mike is and that is comforting. I am praying for Gayle and the kids as they grieve the loss of a truly great man.
    Sincerely, Jody

I got to know Mike when I was involved in some union activities many years ago, and I would see him regularly at Mass in St. Francis Church. A few years ago he installed a light switch in a room here at Holy Cross Friary. I’m sorry I missed attending his wake and funeral. Please accept my condolences.
