Michael H. Domme

Michael H. Domme went to heaven January 8, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 5, 1938 in Topeka, KS to Michael J. and Caroline (Alering) Domme. He graduated from Hayden High School in Topeka KS. On August 20, 1960 he married Judy Bunds, the love of his life, at Assumption Church in Topeka, KS. She survives.

Michael worked in produce, then Sante Fe Railroad, and then Burroughs Corporation. Later, he worked in insurance starting with Dan Ernst insurance agency. Mike worked as an independent insurance agent until the time of his death. He was a CLU and LUF. He taught many of the classes for insurance agents to earn certifications. Mike joined the Army National Guard in 1956 and served his country until 1964. He recently was a member of American Legion Post # 37. Mike and Judy are members of St Peter Church where Mike especially enjoyed the Morning Mens Group. Mike and Judy were active in Marriage Encounter since 1973. They worked in Pre Cana preparing couples for marriage. Mike enjoyed woodworking and constructed a fireplace in each of the houses they lived in. Mike also was a private pilot. He enjoyed flying and flew the family on vacations.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 brothers, Ron Domme (Lynn) of Banning, CA and Tom Domme (Lupe) of Loveland, CO, 4 Daughters Jolene Beaber (Jim) of Quincy, Marcia Hauter (Dru) of Kenney, IL, Diana Maley (Pat) of Cincinnati, OH, Michelle Van Fleet (William) of DuPont, WA. 7 grandchildren, Jacob Beaber (Shelbie) of Greeley, CO, Jordan Beaber of Quincy, Emily Hauter of Lincoln, IL, Ben Hauter of Springfield, IL, Ashley Van Fleet of Charleston, WV, Bryce and Cloe Van Fleet of Du Pont, WA. 2 great grandchildren Charlie and Axton Beaber of Greeley, CO; Sisters-in-law, Jan Troendly and Joyce Bunds and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father -in-lwas, George and Jessie Bunds, one sister-in-law, Ronnie Domme and three brothers -in-law, Jack Bunds, Robert Troendly and Jim Bunds.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Sunset Cemetery of the Illinois Veterans Home with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #37 Honor Detail and the National Guard Burial Detail. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church. Memorials to St Peter Church, Blessing Hospice, or Gary Sinese Foundation. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    My Sweet Judy..so sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. It did not seem real to me. It brought so many good memories back. We would be there to hug you but Denny is not very well. We have been to St Louis and to Springfield today. But so truly we send you and your family our deep deep love. Mike loved you and his family and grandchildren so much !! Love and miss you.
