Michael F. Reiter

Michael F. Reiter, 76, of Quincy left this world and was delivered into God’s hands on Wednesday, November 24, 2021.

“Mike” was born on September 18, 1945, in Quincy, the son of Harold and Virginia (Rupp) Reiter. He married the love of his life, Julie A. Frese on May 4, 1968, in the former St. John Catholic Church in Quincy. She survives.

After graduating from Christian Brothers High School in 1963, Mike served in the US Air Force and was stationed in Germany. He was employed by Moorman Manufacturing for many, many years and ultimately retired in his early sixties. Mike was a social butterfly and took on several part time jobs after his retirement. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus , and prior Elks club member. He enjoyed being a volunteer driver for R.S.V.P. and touched many with his kindness. To say he enjoyed playing golf is an understatement! Until his health declined he was known by all at Westview golf course and even put on his own tournament, “The Reiter Cup” , for many years. Mike also loved to play cards and especially enjoyed poker and euchre. Mike grew up fishing and took trips with his brothers on several occasions. (Oh, the stories!!). He also enjoyed traveling and had a love for music. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.

In addition to his wife Julie, Mike is survived by his daughter, Gina Dietrich and her husband Brad of Quincy, IL as well as his granddaughter, Taylor Dietrich. He is also survived by one brother, John (Ellie) Reiter of Quincy, IL and several nieces and nephews. Lastly, he leaves behind his favorite four legged furry friend, Barney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Jim Reiter.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter Church. Private interment in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Monday evening from 4:00-7:00 p.m. in Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church or QND Foundation.

I loved seeing Mike at St. Peter’s!! We would acknowledge each other but our lives drifted after he came back and went to work at Moorman’s. We use to play golf all the time when we were younger. Yes, he usually beat my score! My prayers and sympathy to Julie and the entire Family. No doubt he is heaven organizing a golf tournament!!!!!! God bless, Mike McClain

Our love, prayers, and sympathy are with you Aunt Julie and cousin Gina. We were saddened to here that Uncle Mike was taken too soon from all of us! We miss him, and always will. He always was ready for a good joke or to just talk and share a cold one! Love you Uncle!

My sincere sympathy to your family. We’ve known each other many, many years, Julie, since grade school at St. John’s. You are so blessed to have had a loving spouse with you for so many wonderful years. Remember your years together as a family with joy.

    Dear Julie and Gina,
Please accept our condolences on Mike’s passing. We had no idea he was that sick. When Sue told me Mike had died, you could have knocked me over with a feather. He was a special friend and we had a lot of fun playing Euchre together for many years in many tournaments. I know he is in God’s comforting hands and is watching over you until you are reunited for eternity in Heaven. Please know that you are in our prayers and I am going to light a candle for Mike at St. Peter’s. May God Bless, Comfort and Strengthen you during this time of adjustment.
    Love,
    Steve and Sue
