Michael Brinkman

Michael K. Brinkman, age 64, of Quincy, died on Friday, February 8, 2019 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on October 9, 1954 in Quincy, the son of Walter ‘Bud’ and Louise (Schutte) Brinkman. Mike was a manager of Walgreens for numerous years. After that, he was employed as an x-ray tech for Keokuk Area Hospital.

Mike was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish. He liked woodworking and researching genealogy. He wrote four books on families from Germany. He also enjoyed gardening. However, his favorite pastime was harassing his nieces, great nieces and great nephews.

Mike is survived by:
TWO SIBLINGS: Joe Brinkman and his wife Cheryl of Quincy and Marcia Brinkley and her husband Ralph of Hannibal, MO
FOUR NIECES: Sara Brinkman, Laura Benz and her husband Chris; Deanine Haynes and Natalie Oswald and her husband Chris
EIGHT GREAT NIECES AND GREAT NEPHEWS: Miller, Myer, Maelyn, Maryn, Daniel, Austin, Ethan and Aiden.
Other relatives and many friends survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 9:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Church or to the Blessing Cancer Center.

    I am saddened by the passing of Mr. Brinkman. While I have met him I shared his passion for geneology research and have enjoyed his 4 books on Quincy’s German immigrants. My condolences to his family.
