Melvin Lee Nauber
Melvin Lee Nauber age 68, of 2045 Chestnut St. Quincy, Il died on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 9:26 a.m. in Sunset Home. He was born January 1, 1945 in Quincy, a son of Julius “Pat” and Edith (Huseman) Nauber. He married Rosemary Thien on September 7, 1968 in Quincy’s St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and she survives.
Melvin was a semi-tractor truck driver, beginning his career at Irwin Paper Co. and retiring in 2007 from Uni-Source.
He was a 1963 graduate of Quincy High School.
Melvin had served in the National Guard.
He was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. He was a member of PASA and enjoyed target shooting and bow-hunting for many years. He participated in bowling leagues for many years and always enjoyed socializing with his friends at Jed’s and Uncle Bob’s. Melvin placed First Place twice in local Chili-Cook-off’s and made excellent smoked turkeys and hams.
In addition to his wife Rosemary, survivors include his sister, Bonnie Madden and brother Bill Nauber and his wife Betty all of Quincy; a sister-in-law Pat Hummel of Quincy ; and nieces and nephews, Tim (Marija) Madden of Albuquerque, NM; Patrick (Tammi) Madden of Glen Ellen, IL; Corie (Andrew) Pryce of St. Lucia; Nancy (Roger) Player, Kathy Griffin all of Quincy; Joann (Paul) Spotanski of Wildwood, MO; Dave (Kathy) Nauber of Higganum, CT;
Bridget Ehrhart of Quincy; Micahel (Sara) Ehrhart of Ft. Collins, CO; Tina Ehrhart; Tony (Kelley) Hummel all of Quincy and Curtis (Lynn) Hummel of Payson, IL.
Many great nieces and nephews also survive.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jack Nauber; a brother-in-law, Jack Madden and a sister-in-law, Ardus Nauber.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 16, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church by Fr. Tom Shaughnessy, O.F.M.. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be a parish prayer service at 4:00 p.m.
