Melba Jean Meighan, age 90, of St. Vincent Home, formerly of 645 College, died on Friday, May 19, 2017 in St. Vincent Home. She was born on April 9, 1927 in Quincy, IL the daughter of James H. & Hanna H. (Busch) Meighan. Melba worked at Blessing Hospital in the Laundry Department from 1944 until 1989.

Throughout the years in her neighborhood, Melba was affectionately known as the “Cookie Lady”

She is survived by close family friends.

Melba was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Meighan.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 12:00 noon until the time of the services at 1:00. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
