Maxson B. Nutt

Maxson B. Nutt, 73, of Quincy, Il died at his home on June 7, 2009. He was born August 11, 1935 in Mendon, Il to William M. and Blanche (Bolt) Nutt.

He was married to Carolyn R. Aschemann on July 2, 1960, in St. Anthony Catholic Church in Quincy, Il. She survives and this year in July would have been their 49th wedding anniversary.

Max was a U.S. Navy veteran serving his country from 1954-1958. He was able to travel the world, and he really enjoyed his time in the service. He worked at Electric Wheel for many years before it closed. He later worked at Kilngas in Alton, Il and at J.M. Huber in Quincy for ten years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Daniel Nutt and his wife Janet of Quincy, and Greg Nutt and his wife Kris of Bloomington, Il. He is also survived by one daughter, Barbara Wellman and her husband Greg of Quincy, Il.

He has six grandchildren, Emy, Ellis and Rollie Nutt of Quincy, Jared Nutt of Bloomington, Il; Megan and Morgan Conover.
Two step-grandchildren, Reagan and Jordan Wellman, of Quincy.
Three surviving siblings, Ed Nutt and his wife Pat of Davenport, IA, Donald Nutt and his wife Mary of Quincy, and Marilyn Klinger and her husband David of San Diego, Ca. Numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William Nutt of Quincy, Il.

He was an active member of both St. Francis and St. Anthony Catholic Church. He was a member of the Calf Town City Council, which included friends and family that met every weekday morning at 7 a.m. to solve city and worldwide issues. His favorite pastimes included time at the family cabin and mowing grass with his grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 9:45 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:30 AM in St. Anthony Catholic Church by Rev. Tom Hagstrom. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home with a Parish prayer service at 6:45PM . In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials can be made to St. Dominic School, St. Francis School or to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.

    My dear friends. I am so saddened by your loss. Max was a good man and a good meighbor. I have many memories of him as we ran around the house and yard playing and he never scolded us even when we were in his jeep. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
