Maurice Shoemaker age 78, of 2040 Broadway, formerly of Loraine, IL died on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 9:36 a.m. in his home. Maurice was born February 14, 1931 in Loraine, IL the son of Willie and Joy (Myers) Shoemaker.

Maurice was a painter who worked with his dad in their painting business for many years.
He was a graduate of Unity High School in Mendon. Maurice was baptized at the Church of the Brethren. Maurice loved flowers and studied horticulture with a passion.

Survivors include a sister, Maurine Willing of Quincy;
a niece, Linda Lubbring and her husband Jim of Quincy;
a nephew, Richard Louis Willing of Camp Point, IL;
a great niece, Melissa Lubbring of Quincy and a great nephew, Christopher Lubbring of St. Louis, MO;
two great-great nephews, Gavin Masters of Quincy and Will Lubbring and a great-great niece, Chloe Lubbring both of St. Louis, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2009
at 10:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by the Rev. George Tomko.
Interment will be in Curless Cemetery, Loraine, IL.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
