Maureen M. Durand
Maureen Mary Durand, age 76, of Sunset Home, formerly of 1527 Ohio, Quincy, died on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on December 7, 1936 in Quincy, a daughter of George H. & Edna C. (Winking) Feld. She married Patrick Joseph Durand on June 28, 1958 in St. Francis Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on October 15, 1992.
She attended St. John and St. Francis Grade Schools, Notre Dame High School and she graduated from the St. Mary’s School of Nursing, Quincy in 1957.
Maureen worked as a registered nurse at both St. Mary’s & Blessing Hospitals in Quincy, retiring from Blessing Hospital in 2001.
She is a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. She is also a member Ladies of St. Francis, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, Blessing 10 year+ club, PTA life member, Western Catholic Union, Narfe, AARP, Post Office Auxiliary and Red Hat Ladies at Sunset Home.
She was an avid bingo player. Maureen never knew a stranger, was very social and she was known to always put others first.
She is survived by: three Daughters, Deborah Grogan and her husband Thomas of Danville, IA, Donna Durand of Quincy, and Diane Juette and her husband Kevin of Quincy; Grandchildren, Kaysee & Riley Grogan, Devin & Ashley Juette; Step-Grandchildren, Heather & Andrew Juette; Step-Great-Grandchild, Liam Duschinsky; Brothers, Kenneth (Vera) Feld of Winfield, IL, Jack (Betty) Feld of Edwardsville, IL, Mike (Karen) Feld of Phoenix, AZ and Roger (Sharon) Feld of Chatham, IL; Sisters, Patricia (Dutch) O’Connell of Caswell Beach, NC and Barbara Koch of Quincy; Brother-In-Law, Steve Campbell of Quincy; and Sisters-In-Law, Bernice Feld of Woodstock, IL and Joan (Dick) Dietrich of Quincy; along with Godchildren, Mark Klapprott, Susan Napolitano and Laura Decker.
In addition to her husband, Patrick, and parents, she was preceded in death by a Brother, Edward Feld; Sisters, Eileen Klapprott, Jeanette Werneth and Marian Scheufele; Brothers-In-Law, Fuzz Klapprott, Jack Koch, Ferd Werneth, Bob Scheufele, Jim Durand, Gerald Lenz and Herb Duncan; Sisters-In-Law, Janet Lenz Duncan and Barb Campbell; and Godchildren, Colleen O’Connell and Bruce Grawe
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church by Fr. Tom Shaughnessey, O.F.M. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday morning beginning at 10:00 A.M. at St. Francis Church until the time of services. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Church, Quincy Notre Dame, the City of Quincy Para-Transit Services or the Knights of Columbus. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
