Maryln (Steinkamp) Kelly
Maryln(Steinkamp) Kelly, 63, surrounded by her beloved husband of 40 years and her four loving children, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 after a courageous seven-year battle with cancer. Mary was born on Sept. 7, 1949 to Herman and Marguerite Steinkamp in Quincy, IL. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in Quincy and St. John’s School of Nursing in Springfield, IL, after which she enjoyed a long career caring for patients at Lake Forest Hospital in Lake Forest, IL and Clarkson West Emergency in Omaha, NE.
Maryln married Michael Kelly in 1972 and they started their life together in South Korea where Michael was stationed with the U.S. Army. They spent many years in Libertyville, IL before moving to Elkhorn, NE in 1995. Mary enjoyed a wide circle of friends and family who will miss her humorous stories, ready smile and sage advice. She was an avid bridge player who enjoyed traveling, reading and, most of all, doting on her three grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter Christine (Danny) Kissinger, and sons Sean, Jim (Becky), and Brendan, and her grandchildren Maggie Kissinger and J.P. & Reese Kelly. She is also survived by her brothers Bill and John (Pat) and sisters Kathy Dudgeon (John Ritchie) and Joann Eisenhart (Eric) and six nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and brother Bruce.
A wake service will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, Feb. 28 at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy with visitation from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 9:30 AM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a funeral mass held at 10 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Quincy, followed by internment in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or The Nebraska Medical Center.
