Mary P. O’Hearn
Mary P. O’Hearn, age 83, of Quincy died on August 17, 2013 in Sunset Home. Mary was born on October 3, 1929 in Hannibal, Missouri, the daughter of John L. and Agnes M. (McLaughlin) Moore. She married James R. “Jim” O’Hearn on March 31, 1951 in Hannibal. He preceded her in death on January 30, 2012.
Mary was a homemaker and had worked part-time for several years at the Hardees at 12th and Locust. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Mary was a member of the Altar Society and the 60 and Over Club at Blessed Sacrament. She and her husband Jim enjoyed square dancing together for more than forty years and they were founding members of the Great River Rompers, Palmyra and members of the Silver Dollar Square Dance Club. Mary had also volunteered at the Blessing Hospital Tearoom.
Mary is survived by four daughters, Deborah O’Hearn Druffel, Patti O’Hearn (Don) Dixon and Mary A. O’Hearn, all of Quincy, and Judi O’Hearn of Edwardsville; six grandchildren, Amanda Druffel (Eric) Becks, Adam (Gina) Druffel, Kyle (Amber) Dixon, Kallie Dixon and Steven (Heather) O’Hearn, of Quincy, and Kolby Dixon (Dustin) Rife of Palmyra; and seven great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Mary is also survived by three sisters, Phyllis (J.C.) DeLaporte of Wausau, WI, Monica Moore of Hannibal, MO, Sharon Keeler of Osage Beach, MO, and one brother, Donald (Penny) Moore of St. Charles, MO and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother John L. Moore, II.
Mary’s family extends their grateful appreciation to the loving and caring staff at Sunset Haven and at Sunset Home for the excellent care they provided for Mary these past 18 months.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 10:00A.M. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Monsignor Michael Kuse as celebrant. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday morning from 8:30 – 10:00 A.M. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Activities Fund at Sunset Haven. The Duker and Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
