Mary M. McNeil

Mary M. McNeil age 88, of Quincy died on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 in Blessing Hospital. She was born November 25, 1929 in Bloomington, IL, a daughter of Frank P. and Maude M. (Schussele) Straub.
She married Thomas R. McNeil on February 3, 1951 in Bloomington, IL, he preceded her in death October 22, 2010.

Mary was a Parish Secretary for 25 years at St. Boniface Catholic Church.
She was a graduate of Trinity High School in Bloomington; and she attended Rosary College in River Forest, IL and Quincy College. She was a member of the Church of St. Peter. She was a devout Catholic and a woman of faith.

Mary was a wonderful and loving wife to Tom. She worked hard as a mom, raising her six kids, and dearly loved her them all, including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary possessed a great sense of humor, she loved shopping, especially for shoes, and she was very stylish.
She was an avid Cleveland Cavaliers fan, and for 43 years she regularly attended Q.U. Basketball games.

Survivor include:
SIX CHILDREN: Mary Robinson and her husband Tom of Virginia Beach, VA; Thomas R. McNeil, Jr. and his wife Linda of Quincy; Michael McNeil and his wife Wanda of New Berlin, WI; James McNeil; Erin Reece and her husband Ryan of Quincy; and Nora Ross and her husband Ken of Mahwah, NJ.
SIX GRANDCHILDREN: Reeder Robinson and his wife Meg; Brian McNeil and his wife Jill; Adam McNeil and his wife Katie; Dan McNeil and his wife Claire; Lauren Santora and her husband Anthony and Samantha Ross.
SIX GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Maggie McNeil; Brady McNeil; Luca and Nico Santora; Emma McNeil, and Laura McNeil. A SISTER-IN-LAW, Sheila McMichael of Des Moines, IA; SPECIAL FAMILY FRIENDS, Sr. Madeleine Lane, S.S.N.D of St. Louis, MO; Betty and LeeAnn Peters both of Quincy.
NIECES and NEPHEWS also survive.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, husband, four sisters and one brother.
Mary was the last surviving of the Straub children.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 9:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in the Church of St. Peter by Monsignor Leo Enlow. Interment in St. Boniface Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Church of St. Peter or Blessing Hospice and Palliative Care.

    Dear Tom, Linda & Family,
    Although we did not know your mother Mary, as reflected she sure loved life, family and was a woman of great faith. May you all find comfort in knowing that others are thinking of you during your time of loss. You all are a shining example of your parents legacy. The many kindnesses you showed our mother Frances as your neighbor over the years is a testament to the McNeil family goodness.     Dear Tom and family, God rest your mothers soul. her was a dear person to know and nice. I know her neighbor, Mr. Schutte will miss her too. Ill have a mass said at St. Rose. God Bless. Paul
