Mary M. Gramke

Mary M. Gramke, age 89, of 1301 Maple St., Quincy, died on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at 6:35 p.m. in Good Samaritan Home. She was born on November 24, 1924 in Hull, IL, a daughter of Alva & Fannie (Kincade) Wright. She married E. John Gramke on March 9, 1978 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1996.

Mrs. Gramke was a 1938 graduate of Hull Public School. She worked as an inspector for Motorola in Quincy, retiring after 20 years of service.

She was a member of Union United Methodist Church.

Mary loved going to garage sales. She played cards and enjoyed daily BINGO at Good Samaritan Home. She also liked trips to the casino in LaGrange.

She is survived by: a daughter, Cathy J. Sprague and her husband Larry of Quincy; step-sons, John E. Gramke of Sparta, KS, Stan Gramke and his wife Mary of Grand Blanc, MI and Jerry (Shelly) Gramke of Arlington, TN; grandchildren, Larry W. Sprague, Landon S. (April) Sprague and Christopher (Betty) Sprague, all of Quincy; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Korte, Natalie Sprague, Landon Sprague, Jr. and Jackie Sprague; and step-grandchildren, Justin Gramke, Seth Gramke and Matthew Gramke. Several nieces, nephews and great-nieces & nephews also survive.

In addition to her husband, John, and her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Alva Wright, Gary Wright, Alfred Wright & Lonnie Wright; seven sisters, Leola Gallaher, Dorothy Anderson, Leila Gully, Rosalie Wright, Hazel Wright, Marjorie Wright & Fannie Scott; along with a nephew, Robert Wright.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Private interment will be in Akers Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday beginning at 1:30 p.m. until the time of services at Duker & Haugh.

    Mary was our second mother and the only grandma my son Justin ever knew. She was a great friend of my mother and I still laugh at the stories of the two of them going to garage sales. She will be greatly missed by all of us! She only gave us happy memories.
