Mary Louise (Winking) Keane

Mary Louise (Winking) Keane, 92, died at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday (April 20, 2022) in Quincy. She was born July 9, 1929, in Quincy. She was a daughter of Robert H. and Marie (Altgilbers) Winking. She is preceded in death by her husband, Patrick H. Keane, whom she married on June 10, 1950, at St. John’s Church.

Mrs. Keane attended Quincy High School. She was a telephone operator for Illinois Bell and later worked at Ben Franklin and J.K. Creative Printers. She was a member of St. Francis Parish and Ladies of St. Francis.

Mary enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and was fortunate to have a large and fun family. She enjoyed watching baseball, playing card games, completing word search puzzles, gardening, praying the rosary, and spending time in her home. Her favorite holiday was Easter and she was known for her extravagant Easter egg hunts.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Keane) Huner and her husband Gerald of Quincy, IL; 6 grandchildren, Beth (Keane) Shade and her husband, Jeff of Jacksonville, IL., Pete Keane and his wife Laura of Quincy, IL., Katie (Keane) Douglas and her husband Kevin of Quincy, IL., Rob Huner and his wife Marcie of O’Fallon, MO., Julie Huner of Quincy, IL., and Jesse Keane; 10 great-grandchildren, Emily & Nathan Dickman, Mitch & Evan Shade, Madelyn & Andrew Keane, Bella, Ayanna, & Vaughn Douglas, and Sam Huner.
She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Diana Winking, a sister-in-law, Judy Winking, and a sister-in-law Jean Keane; as well as many loving and adored nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Mike Keane; a brother, Robert J. Winking; a brother in infancy; in-laws, Alfred and Helen (Wessel) Keane, Phyllis & Carl Zang, Joan & Kenneth Steinkamp, Mary Jean & Lilburn Icenogle, and Jim Keane; two nephews, Steve Zang & Mark Icenogle, and a nephew in infancy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to the Unity High School baseball team or to the donor’s charity of choice. Services are in care of Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
