Mary Lee Werneth

Mary Lee Werneth age 73, of Quincy died from complications of COPD on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Blessing Hospital.
Mary Lee was born January 25, 1943 in Quincy, a daughter of Lowell E. and Mary E. (DeVore) Tomlin. She married Bob Werneth on June 15, 1963 in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Quincy, he survives.

She was a 1961 graduate of Quincy High School.
Before retiring, Mary Lee had worked as a secretary for a few years at Kohl Wholesale and at Outdoor Graphics.

Mary Lee was a member of the Church of St. Peter.

Mary Lee and Bob met in 1959 while he was working at the Maid Rite and she came in to the restaurant to eat. They started dating, and were married four years later. In 2016, they celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary.

Her life revolved around her sons and her grandchildren, they were the light of her life. For over twenty years, she played golf regularly at Cedar Crest. Mary Lee also loved traveling to Florida.

In addition to her husband Bob, survivors also include her two sons, Jeff Werneth and Todd Werneth of Quincy. Two grandchildren, Brandon Werneth and Brittney Werneth; a great-grandson Owen Meyers; and a sister-in-law, Sandy Tomlin.

Mary Lee was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, John Tomlin.

A prayer service will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will follow the services. Memorials are suggested to the Quincy Humane Society. www.dukerandhaugh.com

    Bobby & boys…I was sorry to hear of Mary Lee’s death..am happy she doesn’t suffer any longer tho..remembering her & your fabily in my prayers. Remembering all the wonderful times you shared will hopefully help you thru this difficult time..
