Mary Jo Obert
Mary Jo Obert age 67, of Liberty, died on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 12:10 p.m. in Blessing Hospital. Mary Jo was born in Quincy on July 28, 1953, a daughter of Harold and Joan (Schmidt) Siebers. She married, her high school sweetheart, Daniel “Danny” Obert on October 6, 1973 in St. Brigid Catholic Church, Liberty and he survives.
Mary Jo worked as a Para-Professional at Liberty School for 23 years. She was great at helping kids with their reading and spelling and she had an impact on many young lives.
She was a 1971 graduate of Liberty High School. Mary Jo was a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church where she taught P.S.R.
Mary Jo was most proud of her children and grandchildren, and especially enjoyed going to Cross Country meets. All five of her children were high school All-State medalist. Her home was where she liked to be most-of-all. She had talents for decorating, doing crafts and she had an eye for antiques.
Her life changed when she joined Facebook, and she avidly participated!

Danny, survivors also include her Mom Joan Siebers of Liberty.
Her children: Jeffrey Lee (Jody) Obert; Todd Daniel (Ginger) Obert; Brandy Jo (Jeremy) Hocking; Jason Edward (Jamie) Obert; Eric Joseph (Kayloni) Obert all of Liberty.
Grandchildren: Twins, Justine and Zoey Obert; Harper Obert; Dalton and Alaina Obert; Josephine, Dylan, Twins, Allison and Mason Hocking; Lane and Cole Obert; Elijah, Raelee and Lyla Obert all of Liberty.
Three sisters, Barb (Dave) Ellwood; Nancy (Greg) Obert; Dorothy (Paul) Smith; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her Dad, and her father and mother-in-law, Donald and Anna Mae Obert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Brigid Catholic Church with Fr. Jeff Stone, celebrant. Interment will be in St. Brigid Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 at St. Brigid Catholic Church. Memorials are suggested to St. Brigid Catholic Church or to St. Brigid Cemetery. So sorry to hear of Mary Jo’s passing. She was such a blessing to all who were lucky enough to know her. Since she was the eldest of the Joe & Eleanor Siebers grandchildren,,we all looked up to her. Mary Jo was a sweet lady who helped many children here at Liberty Elementary School before she retired as a paraeducator. We will miss her and extend our condolences to the family.
Dear Danny and Family, I cannot put into words how sorry I am for your loss. I have many good memories of Mary Jo, from our days in religious education, being in the same First Holy Communion and Confirmation classes and throughout all our years as classmates. She will be so very deeply missed, but our faith tells us her life is changed, not ended, and we will be with her one day in eternity. May your cherished memories bring you comfort and peace.
