Mary Jane Koenig
Mary Jane Koenig age 62, of Quincy died on Saturday, August 17, 2024, in her home. Jane was born in Springfield, IL on November 11, 1961. She was the adopted daughter of Patricia (Kerkering) Maguire and Terry Maguire.
Jane grew up in Quincy on Lindell Street in a neighborhood where friends climbed trees together and had fun. She was a gifted gymnast, and in high school was a cheerleader. She was a 1980 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame.
Following high school, she met Hal Koenig who would become her husband. The couple were engaged and later married in St. Peter Catholic Church on September 24. 1983. Early in their marriage, she got her first dog Mickey, and this was the beginning of her lifelong love of dogs.
Jane went to work in the banking industry, and here she excelled. She was currently a Senior V.P. Retail and Regional Manager at Mercantile Bank in Quincy and formerly worked at Bank of America. Throughout her career, Jane had many co-workers who also became her closest friends. She was dedicated to her bank, their customers, the team, and truly loved her work.
When Jane and Hal’s two children came along, she was always present at their activities, and supported them in all that they did. Jane was a natural caregiver. She was beloved by her parents, her in-laws, and sisters-in-law. She loved spoiling her only grandchild, Landon Paul.
Jane was of the Catholic faith and member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church.
Over these last couple of years, she endured her cancer with courage and innate humility. She was thankful for the gifted team at Siteman Cancer Center, St. Louis, who did their best to help her throughout her treatment. There were so many who expressed their love to Jane when she needed it most, and people that went out of their way to brighten her day. A thank you to all, and to the C. Store at HyVee on 36th Street for their kindness.
In addition to her husband Hal, survivors include her daughter Kimberly (Will) Paul of Chesterfield, MO; her son Kyle Koenig of Quincy. Her grandson Landon Paul of Chesterfield.
Siblings: Kathleen (William Kayser) of Perry, MO; Beth Holthaus and Mike Wetherell of Pana, IL. In-laws: Ronna “Randy” Reddick of Monticello, MO; Karla “Jay” Newman of Quincy. Several nieces and nephews survive.
