Mary J. Harker

Mary J. Harker, age 82, of the St. Vincent’s Home, Quincy, died on Thursday, August 13, 2015 in the home. She was born on December 4, 1932 in New Canton, IL, a daughter of Clifford & Lena (Williams) DeVerger. She married Norman L. Harker. He preceded her in death on August 15, 1991.

Mary had a beautiful smile that made her eyes sparkle. She was much-loved by her family and caregivers. Her true joy was being with her family, and she liked playing cards and Bingo.

She is survived by a son, Ray Yackle of Quincy; a daughter Brenda Wellman of Quincy; seven grandchildren; Jeff (Bethann) Speckhart, Tammy (Greg) Andresen, Teresa (Mark) Patterson, Christopher (Jody) Yackle, Shane Yackle, Justin (Christy) Wellman and Amber Wellman. Twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her husband, Norman, and her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Ed, Gene, Charles, Ray, Bob and Carl DeVerger and sisters, Verta DeVerger and Iva Hardy.

Cremation rites have been accorded.
There are no services planned at this time.
Memorials are suggested to St. Vincent’s Home Activities Fund or to Blessing Foundation for HOSPICE.
The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
