Mary I. Meyer
Mary I. Meyer age 89, of 9721 Albsmeyer Rd. Payson, IL died on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 1:40 a.m. in St. Vincents Home. Mary was born at home in Payson on August 8, 1921. She was the only daughter of John V. and Elizabeth (Benz) Meyer.
Mary worked as a housekeeper for many years. She was a lifetime member of St. Anthony Catholic Church where she was very active as a member of the Ladies of St. Anthony and of the Quilters. Mary was a member of the Western Catholic Union and the Third Order of the Secular Franciscans.
She liked flowers, gardening and sewing.
Survivors include: Three brothers, Leonard (Virginia) Meyer; Frank (Isabelle) Meyer all of Quincy and Ambrose Meyer of Payson;
Nieces and Nephews, Carol (Robert) Wehner of San Antonio, TX; Judy (Barry) Eschmann of Lockport, TX; Leonard (Theresa) Meyer of St. Peter, MO; Darlene (Johnnie) Leithoff, Rita Schulze, Susan (Steve) Schoonover,
Andrew (Tammy) Meyer and Ann Peck (Randy Stark) all of Quincy; John Meyer of Portland, OR; Teresa (Jim) Jarzabek of Bellevue, NE; John V. (Danette) Meyer, Anthony (Bonnie) Meyer all of Portland; Joseph (Tammy) Meyer and Lee (Becky) Meyer all of Merced, CA. Jim (Charlotte) Meyer of Fowler, Pat Requet of Quincy, Dick (Linda) Meyer of Quincy.
Many great nieces and great nephews also survive.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, George, Marcellus, Albert and John Meyer; a nephew Daniel Meyer and a nephew-in-law Steve Schulze.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 9:45 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Anthony Catholic Church by the Rev. Thomas Hagstrom. Interment will be in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with a parish prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Anthony Catholic Church.
